I am a native of Flint, Michigan and attended the Charles Stewart Mott Community College, Michigan State University, and the “School of Hard Knocks”. I have performed with the “Ringling Brothers, Barnum & Bailey Circus”, two New York based national touring companies performing “My One and Only” and “Anything Goes”, the “Great American Music Ensemble”, and numerous jazz artists including Bobby Shew, the New York Voices, Chuck Mangione, Clark Terry, Pete Christleib, Louis Bellson, Arturo Sandoval and many others. I have also performed with a variety of ensembles at the Northsea (The Hague, Holland), Montreaux (Switzerland), and Montreaux Detroit Jazz Festivals.

As a band leader, I co-led the “Dave Huber – Kerry Moffit Quintet” and the “Capital Jazz Society” big band. Since joining the United States Air Force bands and music program as an enlisted musician in 1991, I have performed as a member of various ensembles including concert bands, jazz ensembles, and pop/rock ensembles. In 1996, I was appointed the Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge of the “Dixie Players” – a component ensemble of the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band based at Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. In 2003, the Heritage of America Band released a CD recording by the “Dixie Players” titled “Dixie Parade” which received widespread critical acclaim.

In January 2010, I was re-assigned to the “SHAPE International Band”, a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) unit based in Mons, Belgium. From March 2010 to September 2011 I served as the Non-Commissioned Officer In Charge and Music Director of “The NATO Jazz Orchestra” and led that organization in more than 20 missions throughout five Western European countries. I consider the highlight of my time as leader of this ensemble to be performances at the “2010 Imatra Big Band Festival” in Imatra, Finland and the final planning and coordination of the upcoming “NATO Jazz Orchestra” CD titled “A Taste of NATO, Part II”.

To date I have appeared on approximately 45 recordings of various genre including the Grammy winning “Grand Serenade for an Awful Lot of Winds and Percussion” by P.D.Q. Bach and jingles too numerous to count. I am currently composing and arranging music for “The NATO Jazz Orchestra” and my debut recording as a civilian band leader.
